Transport Planner

Salary: Β£32,000 per annum

Hours: 45 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 7:30pm

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Planner to join their busy transport operation in Telford.

This is a key position within the traffic office, responsible for planning and coordinating deliveries, liaising with drivers and customers, and ensuring transport operations run efficiently and cost-effectively.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and confident working in a fast-paced transport environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate vehicle movements and deliveries in line with customer requirements.
  • Liaise with drivers, customers, depots and internal teams regarding schedules and operational updates.
  • Identify and resolve transport and delivery issues proactively.
  • Respond to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
  • Maintain accurate transport records and complete relevant administration.
  • Support the accounts and invoicing team with delivery-related queries.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure transport planning activities comply with company procedures, industry regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Support fleet compliance planning, including vehicle inspection schedules.
  • Assist with other reasonable duties and ad hoc tasks as required.

About You

  • Previous experience within a transport, logistics or traffic planning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy operational environment.
  • Knowledge or experience of transport planning systems would be advantageous.
