Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for a transport clerk to work for our client based in Northampton. The ideal candidate would need to live locally to the office in Northampton and be willing to be flexible with their shifts.
ROLE
- Be the first point of contact in the transport office for drivers and customers
- Ensure driver and vehicle coverage for planned work
- Understand and manage driver hours, holidays, and absences
- Maintain tachograph and fleet records in line with regulations
- Liase with own drivers and agency drivers
- Prepare and provide driver documentation for European travel
- Help with daily routing and office admin tasks as required
- IT literate
SALARY
Salary will be competitive for a clerk in the area.
WORKING HOURS
A normal shift would be midday – 8pm. The candidate would need to be prepared to provide holiday/sickness cover for both the night shift (midnight to 8am) and the evening shift (4pm – midnight). There would be some lone working in the office.
ADDITIONAL INFO
We would prefer someone who has had experience in a transport environment, but attitude and personality are more important. We are a traditional transport company and pride ourselves on doing a good job. The majority of their work is European trunking on behalf of Fedex, so any experience of European work would be an advantage. We are a general haulage transport company, covering the UK and Europe (France, Belgium and The Netherlands). We currently have a fleet of 40 trucks and 8 trailers.
