Proactive Personnel are working closely with a large manufacturer, to recruit a skilled Mechanical Engineer for their team in Ellesmere Port. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and improving mechanical systems and devices within a busy manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes. Knowledge and experience required: * Boiler / steam systems * Industrial building services (sprinkler systems, CHP, process cooling and heating) * Hydraulics systems * Pneumatic systems * Highbay racking * Conveyor systems * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery, including bearings, shafts, hydraulics, pneumatics, boiler and plant equipment * Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in production machinery, including high-speed machines, conveyors, and other automated systems * Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure production targets are met * Support automation and control system enhancements to increase system reliability and production throughput * Ensure all mechanical systems comply with safety standards and industry regulations (e.g., NFPA, NEC) * Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure safe operation of mechanical equipment * Enforce safe working practices * Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address technical challenges and improve the performance of manufacturing equipment * Maintain accurate records of all mechanical maintenance activities, including repairs, upgrades, and system performance * Generate and review reports on mechanical performance, system issues, and maintenance needs Candidates should be educated to HNC level and have a minimum of 3–5 years’ experience. Ideally, applicants will also hold FLT and Cherry Picker licences. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required, including: * Strong troubleshooting abilities in order to quickly resolve mechanical and control system issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities * Strong self-starter capable of independent learning and desire to learn and develop * Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with production teams and other engineering staff * Ability to document and explain technical information to non-technical personnel * Ability to ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices in mechanical maintenance Information: * 4 on 4 off shifts, days and nights * £62,000 per annum * Permanent vacancy with job security * Our client is a progressive employer with a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment * You will join a friendly and flexible team, supporting the maintenance department of a leading manufacturer * Competitive salary and a generous holiday allowance * A competitive company pension is available following a qualifying period, along with a contributory healthcare programme * Uniform is provided free of charge, along with unlimited free tea and coffee.
