We are currently recruiting experienced Night Shift MIG Welders / Fabricators for our client, a blue-chip HGV Commercial Trailer Manufacturer based in ST3.
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled Welders / Fabricators looking for long-term, stable work on a permanent night shift, working within a busy manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for MIG welding HGV trailer chassis and fabricating the main trailer frames, working from engineering drawings and using a range of hand, power and air tools.
You will also be required to use overhead cranes and carry out positional welding around the trailers.
- Pay & Benefits
- Night shift rates up to £21.00 per hour, including the x1.33 night shift allowance.
- Basic rates range from £15.00 to £16 per hour, depending on experience and weld-test performance.
- Higher rates available for experienced Welders who successfully demonstrate the required skills during the weld test.
- Overtime available.

Key Responsibilities
- MIG welding and fabricating HGV commercial trailer chassis and frames.
- MIG welding mild steel components up to 12mm thickness.
- Carrying out positional welding and working around trailers within the workshop.
- Fabricating and assembling steel components to engineering specifications.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Using hand, power and air tools safely and effectively.
- Operating overhead cranes when required.
- Completing quality checks on welds and fabricated components.
- Ensuring all work meets the required quality and production standards.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in line with company health & safety procedures.
- Working efficiently to meet demanding production deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a MIG Welder / Fabricator.
- Previous experience welding and fabricating HGV trailers, chassis, frames or similar heavy steel structures is highly advantageous.
- Experience MIG welding materials including mild steel; experience with stainless steel, alloys and other materials would be advantageous.
- Experience MIG welding up to 12mm thickness.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Competent with a variety of hand and power tools used within a fabrication environment.
- Basic maths skills for accurate measurements and fabrication calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet demanding production deadlines.
- Must be flexible and committed to working permanent night shifts.
