We are currently recruiting for a Design Engineer on behalf of a well-established steel fabrication business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join a growing company working on a variety of bespoke fabrication projects.
The successful candidate will be involved in the design and detailing of structural steelwork and architectural metalwork projects, including stair balustrades, fire escapes, balconies, and general steel fabrication. The company is open regarding design software and is willing to invest in the package best suited to the successful candidate’s experience and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:- Producing detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings
- Designing and detailing structural steel and architectural metalwork projects
- Working on stair balustrades, balconies, fire escapes, and general fabrication projects
- Liaising with production teams and project stakeholders
- Carrying out occasional site visits to take dimensions and ground levels
- Ensuring drawings and designs meet project specifications and industry standards
- Supporting projects from concept through to manufacture
- Previous experience within a Structural Design Engineer role
- Strong background in structural steel and steel fabrication
- Experience producing fabrication drawings
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Structural calculations will be subcontracted to an external structural engineer
- A pool car is available for site visits
- Design software is flexible and will be based around the successful candidate’s preference and experience
- Competitive salary of £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
- Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:45am – 4:15pm, Friday: 7:45am – 3:15pm
- Early finish on Fridays
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
