We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Horizontal Borer Setter / Operator / Programmer to join a well-established engineering company based in Ashton-under-Lyne. This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled machinist with experience working on CNC Horizontal Boring/Milling machines.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC horizontal borers using Heidenhain control systems, producing high-quality medium to heavy-sized components from customer drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting, operating and programming CNC Horizontal Boring/Milling machines
- Working from detailed engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Producing medium to heavy workpieces to a high standard
- Carrying out self-inspection and ensuring components meet quality requirements
- Working safely and efficiently within a busy engineering environment
- Supporting overtime requirements when required
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience operating CNC Horizontal Boring/Milling machines
- Strong experience with Heidenhain controls
- Ability to set and programme machines independently
- Confident reading and working from engineering drawings
- Experience machining medium to heavy components
- Ability to inspect own work using measuring equipment
- Willingness to work overtime when required
Shift Options Available:
Day Shift
- Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
- Friday: 08:00 - 13:00
- 37 paid hours per week
- Overtime available (minimum expectation of 11 hours per week)
- Overtime paid at Time + 1/3
- Sundays paid at Time + 1/2
Night Shift
- Monday - Thursday: 18:00 - 06:00
- 4 x 12-hour shifts
- Paid lunch break included
- Overtime available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
- Overtime paid at Time + 1/2
