position is a hands-on role responsible for providing both planned and reactive maintenance support across production facilities, ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Working as part of a shift engineering team, the
Shift Maintenance Engineer
will play a key role in maintaining and improving site assets, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and helping to deliver high levels of production performance. Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site assets. Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently to minimise downtime. Support production teams to ensure equipment is operating safely and effectively. Utilise maintenance management systems to record work and manage asset care activities. Assist with engineering improvement projects and equipment upgrades. Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to prevent repeat failures. Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, hygiene, environmental, and quality standards. Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and other departments to maintain operational performance. Contribute to energy efficiency and environmental improvement initiatives. About You
You will be a proactive and adaptable
Shift Maintenance Engineer
with strong fault-finding skills and experience working within a manufacturing environment. Essential Requirements
Recognised UK electrical or mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Multi-skilled engineering capability with experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance. Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical engineering drawings. Basic PLC input/output fault-finding knowledge. Good understanding of motors, drives, transmissions, brakes, feedback systems, and associated controls. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. Organised, self-motivated, and capable of performing under pressure. Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience within food manufacturing or other highly regulated production environments. Electrical regulations qualification (BS7671 or equivalent). Knowledge of SCADA and machine control systems. Experience programming variable speed drives (VSDs). Fabrication and welding skills. MEWP licence. Health and Safety qualifications or certifications. What You'll Bring
