We are currently recruiting for a Technical Machine Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Wigan. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong machine operating experience who is looking for stable, long-term work.
Pay Rate: Β£13.70 per hour
Shift Pattern (Rotating):
- 6:00am β 2:00pm
- 2:00pm β 10:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and adjust manufacturing machinery in line with production schedules, work instructions, and SOPs
- Optimise machine settings to maximise efficiency while meeting output and quality targets
- Monitor machine performance and process parameters, responding promptly to alarms or deviations
- Carry out routine start-ups, changeovers, shutdowns, and cleaning activities
- Perform first-line troubleshooting of mechanical or process faults and escalate complex issues when required
- Conduct in-process and final quality checks to ensure products meet specification and customer requirements
- Accurately complete production records, shift handover notes, downtime logs, and quality documentation
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S within the work area
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe working practices
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, output, and waste reduction
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and incoming/outgoing operators to ensure smooth shift handovers
- Complete Autonomous Maintenance (AM) tasks to the required standard, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and basic condition monitoring
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a machine or technical operator in a manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Willingness to work rotating shifts
