The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to join a growing technology team focused on solving business challenges through software, automation and AI.
This is a highly varied role combining hands‑on engineering with business engagement.
Approximately 60% of your time will focus on designing, building and delivering software solutions, with the remaining 40% spent working directly with stakeholders across finance, operations and other business functions to understand challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
You’ll take ownership of problems from discovery through to delivery, running workshops, gathering requirements and developing practical technology solutions that create measurable business impact.
Working in small, autonomous teams, you could be developing an internal application one day and collaborating with senior stakeholders to redesign a process or explore AI-driven automation opportunities the next.
The role is fully remote or hybrid depending on preference, with occasional travel to UK offices for workshops and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Engineering & Delivery (60%)
- Design, develop and deploy scalable software, integrations and automation solutions.
- Build systems that improve efficiency, accuracy and user experience.
- Leverage AI technologies and AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.
- Own projects across the full software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to engineering standards, tooling and best practices.
- Business Engagement & Consulting (40%)
- Work with stakeholders to understand challenges and identify opportunities.
- Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops and requirements gathering.
- Analyse processes and recommend improvements using software, automation and AI.
- Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Build trusted relationships and measure the impact of delivered solutions.
About You
You’re an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving business problems as much as writing code.
You’re comfortable engaging with both technical and non‑technical audiences, working in ambiguous environments and turning conversations into effective solutions.
You’re curious about AI, automation and emerging technologies and excited by the opportunity to influence how technology is adopted across an organisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ professional software engineering experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java Script/Type Script, Java, C++ or similar.
- Experience building and deploying production‑grade software.
- Practical use of AI tools and technologies to improve productivity or deliver solutions.
- Ability to identify opportunities for AI and automation within business processes.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to UK offices.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with finance, operations or other business‑facing teams.
- Delivery of automation, transformation or process improvement initiatives.
- Exposure to systems integration, data engineering, business intelligence or cloud platforms.
- Consulting, business analysis or solution design experience.
- Personal projects, open‑source contributions or experimentation with AI.
- What’s On Offer
- £40,000–£60,000 salary depending on experience.
- Discretionary bonus scheme.
- Remote or hybrid working options.
- Pension, life assurance and wellbeing benefits.
- Ongoing professional development.
- High levels of autonomy and ownership.
- Direct exposure to senior stakeholders.
- The opportunity to shape the organisation’s adoption of AI and emerging technologies.
