Our client is seeking an Assembly Technician to join their production team and support the assembly, testing and quality inspection of complex electro-mechanical systems. Working closely with the Production Team Lead and wider production, quality and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for assembling products in accordance with detailed technical instructions and established procedures. This role would suit a hands-on, technically minded individual with excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing. Previous experience in a production or assembly environment would be advantageous, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly
    • Assemble complex electro-mechanical products and systems in accordance with detailed work instructions, drawings and specifications.
    • Use a range of hand tools, machinery and specialist equipment to accurately assemble components and sub-assemblies.
    • Ensure all components are correctly fitted and assembled to the required quality standards.
    • Follow established production processes and procedures to ensure consistent and repeatable results.
    • Complete assembly activities within agreed production timescales without compromising quality or workmanship.
    • Identify and report any issues with components, drawings, work instructions or Bills of Materials (BOMs) to the Production Team Lead.
    • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient work area.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance
    • Carry out functional testing and quality inspections on completed assemblies.
    • Verify products against relevant specifications and quality requirements.
    • Identify, investigate and report faults, defects or discrepancies during the assembly and testing process.
    • Support the resolution of production and quality issues in collaboration with the relevant teams.
    • Accurately record test results, inspection findings and other production information.
    • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and procedures.
  • Health & Safety
    • Comply with all company Health & Safety policies, procedures and working practices.
    • Use tools, machinery and equipment safely and responsibly.
    • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment at all times.
    • Attend relevant Health & Safety and technical training as required.
    • Report any hazards, incidents or unsafe working practices promptly.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve production processes, efficiency and product quality.
    • Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement activities.
    • Support the implementation of improvements to assembly and testing processes.
    • Develop an understanding of production challenges and contribute to practical solutions.
  • Teamwork & Communication
    • Work closely with Production, Quality Control and Engineering teams to achieve production targets.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors regarding production requirements and any issues encountered.
    • Escalate technical, quality or BOM discrepancies to the Production Team Lead.
    • Support colleagues when required to maintain an efficient and collaborative production environment.
    • Contribute positively to team objectives and wider business goals.
  • Training & Development
    • Participate fully in on-the-job training and development programmes.
    • Learn new assembly, testing and manufacturing techniques from experienced technicians and trainers.
    • Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, processes and quality standards.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as technical skills develop.

Essential

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

  • Experience assembling mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical products.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and workshop equipment.
  • Experience of product testing or quality inspection.
  • Ability to interpret basic technical drawings or assembly instructions.
  • A-levels or equivalent qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, science or a related subject.
