A rare opportunity for an experienced Workshop Manager to take full ownership of a busy, technically complex workshop environment. This role is all about control, delivery and leadership. You will run the workshop end to end, making sure work is planned properly, resources are used smartly and projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.
What you’ll be doing:
- Running all workshop activity from goods-in through to build, test, pack and dispatch
- Managing and motivating workshop staff across multiple workstreams
- Planning resources, space and workload to meet demanding project schedules
- Working closely with project, purchasing and test teams to keep jobs moving
- Managing costs, tracking budget vs actual and fixing issues before they escalate
- Ensuring a safe, compliant and well-organised workshop environment
Projects range from small, short-term builds to large, high-value, multi-year programmes. Equipment varies from bench-top assemblies to large, heavy floor-mounted cabinets.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar role in manufacturing or engineering
- Strong background in electrical and mechanical build environments
- Confident leader who can prioritise, make decisions and drive standards
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects with competing demands
- Solid communicator, practical thinker, hands-on when needed
- Proficient in MS Office
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification, ideally degree level
Occasional out-of-hours work may be required to meet project deadlines.
Security requirement: Due to the nature of some projects, candidates must be able to pass BPSS clearance and hold a British or dual British passport.
