Proactive Global is currently looking for an experienced Brake Press operator to join one of our well-established customers based in Sunbury-on-Thames.
Experience required:
- 2-3 years Brake Press Experience
- Experience setting up and running a punch machine (preferable)
- Radan experience (preferable, but training may be offered if needed)
Job specific duties:
- Ability to work from engineering and manufacturing drawings on your own
- To be able to program and use CNC bending machines
- Able to use safely associated machines and tools e.g. guillotines, rollers, stud gun, grinders, power files, drills
- Program and operate CNC brake press
- Working with stainless steel commonly up to 3mm
- A high standard of workmanship to be maintained at all times
- The company's quality policies and requirements are to be maintained at all times
- Ensure safe working practices at all times
- Responsible for good housekeeping in your own work area
- To promote a culture of continuous improvement among the workforce, and implement such changes to reduce cost and assembly time whilst improving quality or ease of build.
Essential Skills:
- You will be programming the brake press to fabricate various products each with their own tolerances, dimensions, and unique information. Therefore the ability to read engineering drawings is essential to this role.
- Some previous experience with sheet metal fabrication and brake press is essential - however we will train you on our machine.

- Ermak CNC HAP 3160
- Radan
- CNC punch
Training Provided:
- Training on machine

Skills:
- Train team members to improve skill flexibility targets of three people able to complete each job function.
- Coach and mentor team to fulfil individual personal potential, achieve development goals and deliver business requirements effectively.
Cost and Efficiency:
- Identify and take actions when targets are not being met and waste is evident.
- Design with fit, form, and function, safety and cost in mind.
- Keeping errors to a minimum within the sales function and process.
Commercial awareness:
- Lean CI: Support the company continuous improvement activities and data capture; participate and encourage idea generation.
Quality:
- Take no-go decisions and escalate where unsure. Make concessions where appropriate and ensure no repeats.
- Ensure all non-conformances are quarantined and investigated, problems contained and corrective actions achieved by working closely with the Quality team.
- Ensure Expo quality procedures are adhered to.
- Rework requirements are minimised.
- Team members are trained to apply above quality requirements and standards.
Attitude:
- A 'can-do' attitude and a willingness to take on significant challenges.
- Be timely with excellent attendance, adhere to company policy and procedures, assist others and seek to improve in all aspects of work under direct control.
