Location: Tunbridge, Kent

Proactive are currently recruiting for a BMS Estimator to join a growing engineering business within the building controls sector. As a BMS Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive quotations for building controls and automation projects. You will work closely with internal teams and suppliers to review project requirements, prepare costings, and ensure all submissions are complete, commercially viable, and delivered within required timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quotations based on drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
  • Calculate material, equipment, and labour costs for projects.
  • Review technical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
  • Identify commercial risks, assumptions, and opportunities within enquiries.
  • Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing.
  • Support internal teams throughout the quotation and tender process.
  • Assist with project handover where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to improvements in estimating processes.

Skills:

  • Previous estimating experience within BMS, building controls, HVAC, M&E, or similar engineering environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive and methodical working style.
