We are seeking a talented Proposals Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering innovative automation and material flow solutions across a range of industries. Working with the latest technologies in automation, controls, and intelligent systems, you will play a key role in developing competitive technical proposals that meet customer requirements and support business growth.

This position offers the opportunity to manage proposal opportunities from concept through to submission, working closely with commercial, design, engineering, and project delivery teams to develop winning solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate technical proposal activities in line with company bid processes. Prepare technical and commercial submissions, including cost estimates and pricing models.
  • Review customer specifications, tenders, and requests for proposal, translating requirements into practical solutions.
  • Support concept development by collaborating with design teams and producing simple layouts using Revit where required.
  • Manage bid kick-off meetings and coordinate internal stakeholders throughout the proposal process.
  • Write clear, compelling, and tailored bid documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and technology partners to obtain technical and commercial inputs.
  • Track proposal costs and manage bid budgets effectively.
  • Work closely with project management, legal, commercial, technical, and design teams.
  • Ensure a smooth handover from sales to project delivery following contract award.
RequirementsEssential
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with technical estimating, pricing methodologies, and procurement processes. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of risk identification and mitigation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a Proposals Engineer, Bid Coordinator, Project Engineer, Technical Design Engineer, or Estimator role.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Exposure to automation, conveyor systems, intralogistics, or advanced material handling solutions.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and customer requirements.
