Panel Builder / Electrical Design Engineer – Wigan area
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
Location: Onsite
Start Date: Immediate
Interviews: 1-2 stage process
Are you an experienced Panel Builder who can also deliver electrical design? This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer to join a dynamic organisation where your skills will make a real impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Panel Building (70%)
- Build and test large control panels (up to 2m high) in-house
- Connect electrical equipment, test cables, and update drawings/documentation
- Organise transport of equipment and panels to/from sites
- Electrical Design (30%)
- Create and update electrical drawings (EPLAN experience preferred)
- Support documentation and design improvements
- Additional Responsibilities (10%)
- Purchase and track equipment for projects
- Liaise with suppliers and manage missing orders
- Travel occasionally (approx. 20%, UK and abroad) for installations and testing
- Opportunity to do overtime
About You
- 5-15+ years\’ experience in panel building and electrical design (20+ years also welcome)
- Skilled in both hands-on panel assembly and creating electrical schematics
- Comfortable working with various voltages (24V AC/DC; 240V AC; 415V AC)
- Familiar with EPLAN or similar CAD tools (training can be considered)
- Knowledge of conveyor or robotic systems is an advantage
- PLC/HMI programming exposure (Siemens/Allen Bradley) is a plus
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Able to travel for site work when required
