We are currently recruiting for an experienced and technically proficient Test Technician to join the engineering and manufacturing operation of a globally renowned organisation based in Luton. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Test Technician, Electronics Technician or Electrical Technician with strong PCB testing and fault-finding expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electronic assemblies and associated test equipment, ensuring products meet the required quality, safety and performance standards.
The Role
Working as part of a skilled Engineering and Production team, you will carry out electrical and electronic testing, fault diagnosis, PCB repair and rework activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role requires a methodical and technically accurate approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting production requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical and electronic testing of PCBs and electronic assemblies, including products used in high-voltage applications.
- Perform component-level fault-finding and diagnosis on PCBs, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Investigate failures involving test equipment, production equipment and electronic assemblies.
- Repair and rework faulty PCBs, including SMT and through-hole components.
- Use a range of electrical and electronic test equipment, diagnostic equipment and test fixtures.
- Interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Complete test reports, fault reports and relevant technical documentation.
- Support the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of test equipment.
- Work to defined test procedures, engineering instructions, ESD controls and quality standards.
- Contribute to a safe, efficient and quality-focused manufacturing environment.
Required Experience
- Proven hands-on experience in electrical/electronic testing, PCB fault-finding and component-level repair, including SMT and through-hole rework.
- Experience using electrical/electronic test equipment and investigating faults with test or production equipment.
- Experience testing electronic assemblies, ideally within high-voltage applications.
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings, with a sound understanding of root-cause analysis and corrective action.
- Previous experience producing technical/test documentation and working with an ERP/MRP system.
- Experience within a structured manufacturing, engineering or production environment, with a strong focus on quality, safety and output.
- Good understanding of ESD controls and safe working practices.
- A methodical, detail-focused approach with the ability to work to defined procedures and meet production deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the flexibility to work across Engineering, Production and Quality functions.
