A leading UK manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support and enhance controls, automation, and electrical systems across a high-performance manufacturing site. This role is ideal for a technically strong Controls Engineer who enjoys hands-on involvement with automation systems, fault-finding, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting automation projects, and improving machine performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work closely with the wider engineering and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of site equipment.
Contract: Permanent Shift: Monday - Friday (Days)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide controls and automation engineering support across the site
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimise PLC and control systems
- Support preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Improve equipment reliability and machine performance
- Carry out fault-finding on electrical and control systems
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with controls upgrades, modifications, and small automation projects
- Ensure compliance with safety, electrical, and engineering standards
Key Requirements
- Relevant electrical and/or controls engineering qualification
- Proven experience working as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment
- Strong PLC fault-finding and diagnostics experience
- Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley control systems preferred (other platforms considered)
- Good understanding of automation, electrical systems, and industrial controls
- Strong focus on equipment reliability and continuous improvement
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
