We are looking for a highly skilled Sheet Metal Operative for an immediate requirement. The role involves precision sheet metal work with thin gauge materials (up to 2mm max), focusing on high-quality, aesthetic finishes. You will be fabricating server rack boxes and precision-engineered components, mainly using stainless steel and aluminium. This is a fine limit, high-accuracy fabrication role, not structural or heavy fabrication.
Authorities and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all health and safety disciplines.
- Predominately TIG welding of stainless steel and aluminium.
- Able to MIG weld mild steel fabrications.
- Spot welding.
- Use of guillotine notching machines.
- Folding using press breaks & ability to develop flat patterns.
- Use of manual box folding and rolling equipment.
- Able to use bench drill for drilling and tapping.
- Use PEMS inserting machine.
- Part finishing including handheld grinding and polishing equipment.
- Able to work to a high standard / tight tolerance, small batch work or one-offs.
- Produce components to drawing specification and required quality standards.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and good housekeeping always.
- Organise area & tooling to maximise productivity.
- Operate all plant equipment to procedure and health and safety guidelines.
- Willingness to participate in improvement activities across the business.
- Assist in problem solving when issues arise.
- Must embrace change and be willing to adopt new skills to support all areas of the business.
- To be flexible in a small team-oriented environment.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Ability:
- Good communication skills.
- To be able to read and understand engineering drawings and procedures.
- Proficient using measuring equipment.
- Understand the importance of following process & standards.
- Must possess a positive can do attitude.
- Must have the ability to work without supervision.
- Must be prepared to undertake all reasonable requests as determined by the business needs.
- Strong organisational & housekeeping standards, experience of working with 5S methodology & lean tools an advantage.
