Our client is currently seeking an experienced Quality Inspector on a permanent basis to ensure products are inspected and released in accordance with customer requirements, engineering drawings, specifications and relevant quality standards. The successful candidate will support teams across the business to ensure products are manufactured and assembled in conformance with the relevant design data and specifications. You will also be responsible for completing inspection and release documentation and ensuring only conforming products are approved for release.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection and Quality Control
- Inspect and approve products against engineering drawings, customer specifications and supporting documentation.
- Use a range of measuring and inspection equipment, including verniers, callipers, micrometers, gauges and rulers.
- Interpret and work confidently from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Identify and record non-conforming products clearly and accurately, supporting the Quality Assurance Engineers with investigation and resolution.
- Ensure inspection records and regulatory documentation are completed accurately.
- Release conforming products using the correct documentation and procedures.
- Provide quality and product conformance support to departments across the business.
- Work independently or as part of a wider inspection and quality team to make effective use of inspection resources.
- First Article Inspection
- Support and complete First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
- Understand and apply the FAIR process in accordance with AS9102.
- Review and prepare First Article Inspection Reports where required.
- Ensure inspection results are accurately recorded and traceable to the relevant engineering drawings and specifications.
- Auditing and Compliance
- Conduct internal audits within relevant departments.
- Support compliance with AS9100 and AS9102 requirements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of quality procedures and ensure company standards are consistently followed.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of high standards of quality, housekeeping and compliance within the department.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment, ideally within a quality inspection or quality control position.
- Proven experience using inspection and measurement equipment such as callipers, micrometers and gauges.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Previous experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
- Understanding of AS9102 FAIR requirements.
- Experience inspecting products against customer drawings and supporting documentation.
- Experience conducting internal or departmental audits.
- Good working knowledge of quality procedures and documentation.
- Experience working to agreed quality standards and departmental KPIs.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues across different departments.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within an aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing quality standards and processes.
- Experience preparing or reviewing First Article Inspection Reports.
- Previous experience with regulatory or controlled documentation.
- Experience of working within a team based quality environment.
