The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join a busy and growing transport operation in Milton Keynes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional looking to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a transport function, leading a team and ensuring high standards of compliance, safety and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day transport and logistics operation
- Manage, lead and motivate the transport team
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, company procedures and safety standards
- Manage customer relationships and service levels
- Plan and coordinate routes and vehicle utilisation
- Monitor operational performance and identify areas for improvement
- Produce and review transport and performance reports
- Support the development of efficient and cost-effective transport processes
- Ensure vehicles, drivers and transport activities remain compliant
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager or senior transport/logistics role
- A strong understanding of transport operations and compliance
- Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Management
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
- A proactive approach to improving operational performance
- Approximately 2 years' transport management experience is preferred, although relevant experience and capability will be considered.
