An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Electrical Controls Engineer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation specialising in the design and delivery of advanced automated machinery and industrial systems.

Reporting to the Senior Electrical Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in developing innovative equipment concepts and control solutions that can be safely constructed, tested, commissioned, and delivered to customers worldwide. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving PLCs, servo systems, robotics, HMI development, and machine commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical control concepts and schemes that can be constructed and commissioned safely and effectively.
  • Produce electrical drawings, general arrangements, panel layouts, bills of materials, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Design, develop, test, and commission PLC, HMI, servo motion, and robotic control systems.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant health and safety legislation, standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, distributors, and internal departments to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, providing practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Deliver projects within agreed timescales and budget constraints.
  • Maintain accurate technical records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote engineering best practice.
  • Travel internationally to support customer installations, commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and after-sales support.
  • Collaborate with global group companies to provide technical support, machine testing, and problem resolution.
  • Promote and maintain safe working practices and ensure compliance with company procedures and statutory regulations.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree qualification (BSc or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar engineering role.
  • At least 5 years' experience in electrical design, preferably within the packaging machinery or automated machinery sector.
  • Proven experience using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong experience with PLC-based control systems, including Rockwell/Allen-Bradley (RSLogix) and Siemens platforms.
  • Extensive experience in programming, testing, and commissioning servo motion and robotic handling systems.
  • Good understanding of CE Marking legislation and machinery safety standards.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Full driving licence and valid passport.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
