Position Overview
Reporting to the Project Manager or Head of Operations, this role involves leading the technical preparation, costing, and development of commercially competitive proposals and quotations for Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation projects of diverse scale and complexity, ensuring compliance with current legislation and internal processes.
You will spearhead the pre-contract engineering activities, collaborating closely with Sales, Design, Procurement, and Project Delivery teams to define accurate project scopes, establish reliable cost models, and ensure a seamless handover from bidding stage to project execution.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will have a solid engineering foundation in mechanical, electrical, or automation systems. This role is suitable for experienced Project Engineers, Design Engineers, or Senior Site Engineers aiming to shift into a pre-construction, bid-focused position.
You should have a commercial mindset, be highly methodical, and be adept at interpreting technical documents, drawings, and client specifications, converting them into clear, costed technical proposals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare precise, competitive, and compliant bids and quotations for Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation projects.
- Analyze client specifications, drawings, and tender documents to define project requirements.
- Establish scope, assumptions, exclusions, and risk contingencies.
- Collaborate with Design, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Installation teams during bid preparation.
- Provide technical input to support Sales in client meetings and presentations.
- Conduct site visits and technical clarifications as necessary.
- Compile comprehensive handover documentation for Project Delivery teams upon contract award.
- Adhere to company QMS, Health & Safety policies, and organizational values.
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial mechanical, electrical, or automation engineering.
- Experience in Food & Beverage, Logistics, or Distribution sectors is advantageous.
- Previous exposure to estimating, scope definition, or pre-contract engineering is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge combined with commercial awareness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, methodical, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
