Our client is one of the UK’s most established and trusted service providers looking to appoint a 2nd Line Service Desk Analyst – Security Lead, based at their Reading office. This position focuses on maintaining the stability and security of client infrastructure and applications. You will deliver 2nd line technical support to users across all organisations covered by the Managed Service Contract, with a particular emphasis on IT security best practices and incident response.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and resolve 2nd line incidents and requests via the Service Desk within SLA targets.
  • Provide strong customer service to internal and external users.
  • Monitor and support IT security systems, escalating issues as needed.
  • Lead small teams on security-related tasks and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Maintain and update documentation, asset records, and the knowledge base.
  • Support hardware/software installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Perform system backups, recovery, and manage user access rights.
  • Contribute to security patching, audits, and compliance (ISO, Cyber Essentials).
  • Review and enhance service desk security processes.
  • Follow business continuity, disaster recovery, and security policies.

Skills Required:

  • 5+ years in IT support (desktop, networking, server, applications).
  • Solid grasp of ITIL and general security technologies.
  • Strong communication and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft, VMware, Cloud, WAN/LAN, and PC hardware.
  • Knowledge of firewall, AV, patching, EDR (CrowdStrike preferred).
  • Familiar with IT operations and security impact on business.
  • Working towards or certified in SC-200, CCFA, AZ-500, CEH, CISA, or Security+.
