Overview
In this role you will lead and optimise the Netcool Omnibus monitoring estate within a large-scale, 24/7 banking environment.
You will partner with infrastructure, network, middleware and cloud teams to ensure reliable monitoring, fast alerting and effective incident response.
You will drive automation, integration with ITSM and roadmap initiatives to modernise observability.
This is a hands-on, senior technical leadership position with a focus on reducing alert noise and improving operational resilience.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain event monitoring, alerting, correlation and automation rules
- Manage event workflows to reduce alert noise and improve response
- Onboard new infrastructure, applications and services into the monitoring platform
- Provide SME-level support for monitoring incidents, problems, and service requests
- Lead investigations into monitoring failures and integration issues
- Integrate monitoring with ITSM/Service Now and other tooling
- Develop automation scripts and tools to boost efficiency
- Mentor teams and share knowledge on monitoring and observability
- Contribute to monitoring roadmap and platform modernisation
- Maintain documentation and architecture diagrams
- Key requirements
- Extensive hands-on administration of IBM Tivoli Netcool Omnibus in large-scale environments
- Expert knowledge of NOI components: Omnibus, Impact and Web GUI
- Strong Netcool architecture understanding (Object Servers, Probes, Gateways, Web GUI)
- Experience with Service Now/JDBC gateways and enterprise integrations
- Lifecycle management experience (upgrades, patching, migrations)
- Monitoring across server, network, database, middleware and applications
- Event correlation, suppression, deduplication and enrichment expertise
- SQL and Object Server database administration skills
- Netcool Impact development and administration
- Scripting skills: Java Script, Power Shell; Bash/Korn Shell
