You will help organisations meet their VAT obligations accurately and efficiently, supporting them through an increasingly complex and fast-evolving regulatory environment. Working alongside specialists, you'll deepen your technical VAT knowledge while developing strong operational, process, and technology skills. This role offers excellent exposure to large-scale compliance engagements, process improvement initiatives, and the use of innovative compliance tools and data‑driven solutions.
We are seeking an Assistant Manager to join this VAT compliance team at any of our regional offices across the UK. You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of VAT compliance work, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Manage and deliver UK VAT compliance engagements, including VAT return preparation and review, reconciliations, and related reporting.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and providing clear, practical guidance on VAT compliance matters.
- Monitor changes in VAT legislation and HMRC guidance, ensuring compliance processes remain up to date and robust.
- Collaborate with other teams across the firm, including technology and process specialists, to enhance compliance delivery through automation and data analytics.
- Lead, coach, and develop junior team members, ensuring high standards of quality, risk management, and client service.
- Strong technical VAT knowledge with a solid background in VAT compliance delivery.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with a strong focus on client service and quality.
- Experience leading and developing teams in a compliance-focused environment.
- An interest in technology‑enabled compliance, process improvement, and continuous innovation.
