Our client is a friendly, well-established accountancy practice seeking a
Personal Tax Senior to manage the compliance for a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team where you'll have real autonomy, enjoy regular client contact and play an important role in the continued growth of the practice.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for your own portfolio, acting as a trusted adviser to clients while ensuring all personal tax compliance work is delivered accurately and within deadline.
Working closely with the partners and wider team, you’ll provide practical tax advice, manage compliance and billing, resolve client queries and help maintain the firm's strong reputation for excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, including individuals, landlords, company directors, sole traders and high-net-worth individuals.
- Prepare and review Self-Assessment, partnership and trust tax returns.
- Prepare P11Ds and PSA calculations.
- Calculate tax liabilities and advise clients on payments, tax positions and compliance requirements.
- Manage HMRC correspondence, enquiries and client queries.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical advice on areas including Capital Gains Tax, residency and Inheritance Tax.
- Work collaboratively with the accounts and outsourcing teams to ensure information is obtained efficiently.
- Support and develop junior team members through training and review.
- Contribute to improvements in internal processes, systems and templates.
- Work closely with partners on more complex client matters where required.
About You
We're looking for a confident Personal Tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients and takes pride in delivering a high-quality, personal service.
You’ll ideally have
- Experience managing a personal tax portfolio within a UK accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of Self-Assessment, Capital Gains Tax and personal tax compliance.
- Experience handling HMRC enquiries and more complex personal tax matters.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tax issues clearly and in plain English.
- The confidence to manage client relationships from initial contact through to completion.
- Experience with tax software;
Tax Calc experience would be advantageous.
- ATT or CTA qualification is preferred, although candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.
