Having just met with a Director of an exciting Top 10 accountancy and advisory firm, I have been selected to support them with the appointment of a US/UK Tax Manager to join its highly regarded Trust & Family Wealth team. This is a standout opportunity to specialise in complex, cross-border trust work within a growing, technically strong and collaborative private client team.

The US/UK Tax Manager Opportunity

You'll be joining a specialist team of 20, focused on US-connected trusts and estates, working with internationally mobile high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and family wealth structures. The role offers a genuine balance of compliance and highly technical advisory work, with exposure to large, complex estates and significant Partner interaction.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of US-connected trusts and estate clients
  • Delivering a mix of compliance and complex advisory work across US/UK tax regimes
  • Advising on cross-border trust structures, treaty interaction and inheritance tax considerations
  • Working closely with senior leadership on large, high-value estates (often £200m+)
  • Supporting and developing junior team members
  • Building strong client relationships within a referral-led environment
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth of a high-performing specialist team
  • Maintaining an even split between advisory and compliance work

Level & Progression

Open to strong Assistant Managers ready to step up, Managers or experienced hires operating at Senior Manager level (additional stage required). Clear progression pathways within a growing team with strong 2-3 year expansion plans.

Location & Flexibility

UK wide hiring - candidates can be based anywhere in the UK. Flexible and hybrid working supported, with openness to fully remote arrangements. Highly adaptable working model focused on output rather than presence.

The team is entrepreneurial, partner-led and benefits from high-quality client relationships driven through a strong intermediary network. You'll work closely with experienced senior leadership who remain hands-on in complex delivery.

About You

This role would suit someone with:

  • Strong experience in US/UK trust and estate taxation
  • Exposure to US-connected trusts, cross-border issues and treaty interaction
  • A background in Big 4, Top 10/20 or specialist private client boutiques
  • Strong client management skills and ability to handle technical complexity
  • Interest in both advisory and compliance work
  • Relevant qualifications (EA / ATT / CTA / STEP preferred, but strong single-qualified candidates considered)

Not suitable for candidates without deep trust experience or those requiring visa sponsorship.

Salary & Process

Salary circa £65,000-£82,000 depending on experience, plus benefits. Two-stage interview process (three for Senior Manager level): initial screening followed by technical assessment and final leadership discussion.
