I'm working with a growing accountancy and advisory firm to recruit a Private Client Tax Senior Manager into their expanding tax team. This is a key appointment for the business and an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Client tax professional looking to take ownership of a significant portfolio while helping shape and develop the firm's personal tax offering. The role offers a blend of compliance oversight, advisory exposure, client relationship management, and team leadership, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical work and mentoring others.

The Opportunity

Joining an established Private Client team, you'll play a leading role in the delivery of a high-quality personal tax compliance service while identifying and supporting advisory opportunities across a broad range of private client matters. Working closely with entrepreneurial clients, business owners, trustees, and high-net-worth individuals, you'll become a trusted adviser and key point of contact while helping drive the continued development of the team.

The Role

As Private Client Tax Senior Manager, you'll oversee a substantial portfolio while ensuring the efficient delivery of compliance services and supporting more complex advisory projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and trustees
  • Reviewing complex Self-Assessment tax returns for individuals and trusts
  • Leading the delivery of a high-quality personal tax compliance service
  • Acting as a trusted adviser and primary point of contact for clients
  • Supporting clients with Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Inheritance Tax matters
  • Advising on trusts, estates, succession planning, and wealth preservation strategies
  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional advisory services
  • Liaising with professional intermediaries and other advisers
  • Managing workflow across the team and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing junior tax professionals
  • Working closely with colleagues across the wider tax practice to provide integrated client solutions

What You’ll Need

  • CTA qualified preferred (or ACA, ATT, or equivalent with substantial experience)
  • Significant experience within a Private Client or Personal Tax team
  • Strong background managing portfolios of HNW individuals, business owners, and trustees
  • Extensive experience reviewing complex personal tax compliance work
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Income Tax
    • Capital Gains Tax
    • Inheritance Tax
    • Trusts and Estates
    • Remuneration and extraction planning
    • Succession and wealth planning
    • Residence and domicile matters
  • Proven client relationship management skills
  • Experience leading and developing tax professionals
  • Strong organisational and workflow management abilities
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify advisory opportunities
