The Role
You'll provide strategic support to the senior leadership and take ownership of a varied portfolio of private clients, including high-net-worth individuals, family businesses, trusts and estates. With a strong focus on advisory and structuring work, this is an opportunity to step away from pure compliance and become an integral part of the firm's future direction. As well as leading on client delivery, you'll play a key role in developing the tax team, mentoring junior colleagues, and helping to grow the firm's presence across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage a portfolio of private clients, trusts, and business owners, providing proactive tax advice tailored to each client's needs and goals.
- Advise on a broad spectrum of tax matters including inheritance tax, capital gains tax, estate planning and income tax strategies.
- Act as a senior escalation point for the team, offering technical guidance and overseeing the resolution of complex tax issues.
- Deliver and review complex personal tax returns, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
- Lead and develop the Personal Tax team, providing hands-on mentoring, training and performance oversight.
- Identify opportunities for business growth and contribute to marketing and networking initiatives.
- Engage with clients at a senior level, building strong relationships based on trust and insight.
- Support the leadership team in shaping and executing the firm's tax strategy.
Person Specification
Essential:
- CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Strong experience within private client tax
- Excellent technical understanding of UK personal tax legislation
- Track record in managing diverse client portfolios and complex advisory work
- Proven team leadership experience
- Comfortable engaging with clients, intermediaries, and internal teams at a senior level
- Commercially minded with a genuine passion for helping clients navigate their personal tax matters
Desirable:
- STEP or Probate Practitioner qualification
- Familiarity with CCH personal tax software
