Our client is a Big 4 practice with one of the UK's most forward-thinking and fast-growing Accounting Services (AS) teams. This national practice supports both UK and multinational groups, delivering high-quality statutory reporting, outsourced accounting operations, digital transformation, and technical advisory services. The Manchester office is a major growth hub, offering a dynamic, collaborative environment backed by extensive investment in technology, AI, and national capability building. Senior Managers within this practice are given real leadership responsibility, autonomy, and visibility with the potential to progress to Director.
Your new role:
As a Senior Manager, you will take ownership of a sizeable client portfolio, lead multi-disciplinary project teams, and drive complex technical, advisory, and reporting engagements. You will act as a senior escalation point for clients, oversee quality and risk management, and guide emerging leaders within the team. You'll also contribute to strategic initiatives, national transformation projects, propositions development, and market growth - shaping how the AS practice evolves over the next several years. This role is ideal for someone seeking broad exposure, client leadership, and a clear pathway into senior leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and reviewing complex statutory financial statements under FRS 102 / IFRS / US GAAP
- Overseeing multi-client accounting portfolios at scale
- Leading advisory projects across reporting, controls, systems, and process improvement
- Managing cross-border and multi-jurisdictional engagements
- Acting as senior point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders
- Leading quality, risk, and technical review processes
- Supporting national Accounting Services strategy and transformation initiatives
- Managing and developing managers, assistant managers, and associates
- Driving business development, proposal work, and growth of the practice
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in technical accounting, statutory reporting, or advisory
- Strong technical knowledge across UK GAAP / IFRS (US GAAP beneficial)
- Demonstrable experience managing teams and large-scale client portfolios
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to engage senior stakeholders
- Proven track record of delivering complex accounting or project-based work
- Experience contributing to leadership initiatives, quality, or practice development
- A collaborative leadership style with a focus on coaching and developing talent
