I'm working with a growing accountancy firm that is bringing together two established tax teams and investing in its personal tax function. They are looking for a Personal Tax Assistant Manager who can take ownership of a varied portfolio, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued development of the team.

This is a good opportunity for either an existing Assistant Manager or an experienced Personal Tax Senior ready to step up.

You will manage a portfolio of around 150 clients, including high-net-worth individuals, business owners, company directors, media professionals, trusts, self-employed individuals and property owners.

The role will include preparing and finalising personal tax returns, managing deadlines and workflow, liaising with clients and HMRC, supporting enquiries and disclosures, preparing residential property CGT returns, and assisting with P11Ds and Making Tax Digital filings. There will also be opportunities to support advisory work across residence, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and trusts.

The firm has dedicated personal tax specialists, dedicated corporate tax specialists and people who choose to work across both areas. You can therefore keep the role focused entirely on personal tax or broaden your experience over time if that interests you.

They are open-minded on qualifications and will consider ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates. You should have strong personal tax experience gained within a UK accountancy practice, confidence dealing directly with clients and the ability to manage your own workload. Experience of trusts, residence issues, international tax or CCH would be useful, but none of these are essential.

The firm offers:

  • £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working, normally three days in the office and two from home
  • Flexible start times between 8am and 10am
  • 25 days' holiday, increasing with service
  • Option to buy or sell additional holiday
  • Private medical insurance
  • Pension scheme
  • Life assurance
  • Professional subscription paid
  • Regular social events
  • Free parking

This is a strong opportunity to join a sizeable, well-resourced firm while still having the chance to make a visible impact within a developing team.

As an employer, we are committed to ensuring the representation of people from all backgrounds regardless of their gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, or any other aspect which makes them unique. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to apply and would encourage you to let us know if there are steps, we can take to ensure that your recruitment process enables you to present yourself in a way that makes you comfortable.
