Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of trust clients, including UK resident and non-resident trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Prepare and review trust tax returns and related compliance documentation in accordance with HMRC requirements.
  • Advise trustees and beneficiaries on tax implications of distributions, income, and capital gains.
  • Ensure timely submission of tax returns and payments, and manage correspondence with HMRC.
  • Provide technical guidance on inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and income tax matters relating to trusts and estates.
  • Liaise with solicitors, financial advisers, and other professionals to ensure accurate reporting and planning.
  • Support clients with the registration of trusts on the Trust Registration Service (TRS) and maintain compliance with ongoing obligations.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and advise on restructuring or winding up of trusts.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and communicate relevant updates to clients and colleagues.
  • Assist with internal training and development of junior staff within the trust and private client team.
  • Review trust accounts and ensure accurate allocation of income and capital for tax purposes.
  • Participate in business development activities and contribute to proposals and client pitches.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Suitable qualification (ATT, ACA, STEP, CTA, etc.).
  • Experience in trust compliance and portfolio management.
  • Advisory experience is a bonus but can be developed.
