Our client is a Big 4 practice with a market‑leading Accounting Services (AS) team. Your new role

As an Assistant Manager in Accounting Services, you will prepare statutory financial statements, deliver bookkeeping and periodic management accounts, and manage your own portfolio of clients. You will also support ad‑hoc accounting projects and may undertake client secondments in line with business needs. A key part of the role involves applying your technical accounting expertise to major proposals and helping develop the team's advisory offering around process improvement, technology, risk and controls. You will also be responsible for coaching and guiding junior accounting staff, contributing to overall team growth and capability.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing statutory financial statements (SFS)
  • Bookkeeping and preparing periodic management accounts
  • Managing a varied portfolio of clients
  • Delivering ad‑hoc accounting projects and client secondments when required
  • Applying accounting compliance knowledge to major proposals
  • Supporting the development of accounting advisory services
  • Managing and mentoring junior team members

Qualifications

  • ACA or ACCA qualification (or international equivalent)
  • Strong accounting skills with solid financial reporting knowledge
  • Very good working knowledge of UK GAAP / IFRS (US GAAP awareness beneficial)
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software packages
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing client environments
