Audit Senior Manager | Central London | £80,000 to £90,000, rising to £95,000 on RI status
If getting your RI status is the next thing on your list, this role is built around that.
A well-established central London accountancy practice is looking for an Audit Senior Manager who is close to being able to apply for Responsible Individual status. The director who currently holds the RI role is stepping back from it, so there is a clear reason for the firm to invest in getting you there. You would take day to day ownership of the audit function now, work towards registration over the next six to twelve months with the firm behind your application, and start signing once it is granted. There is a £10,000 increase attached to that milestone.
Beyond the RI route, there is a longer conversation about taking a share in running the practice. That is genuinely on the table rather than dangled.
The firm sits within a larger European group, which brings international work including UK subsidiaries of overseas parents and group reporting. The London office is small, around 40 people, so you will know every client and see the effect of your own decisions.
This is a mixed role rather than audit only. Alongside the audit portfolio you will carry general practice responsibility across accounts and tax.
The role:
- Day to day ownership of a portfolio of around 55 audits, including planning, scoping, budgeting and delivery through the team
- Leading fieldwork on the more complex assignments, including international group work
- Reviewing and clearing files, and resolving technical and judgement issues before they reach the signing RI
- Working towards RI status, with the firm supporting your application and building your audit experience record
- Running a general practice portfolio: statutory accounts under FRS 102 and FRS 105, corporation tax review, and the client advisory work that goes with it
- Managing and developing the audit team
What's on offer:
- £80,000 to £90,000 depending on experience
- A further £10,000 once your RI registration comes through
- A firm with an active reason to get you registered, rather than a vague promise to look at it
- A route towards a share in running the London practice
- A mixed client base including international subsidiaries, professional practices, property businesses and owner-managed companies
- Breadth across audit, accounts and tax rather than audit alone
You will be ACA or ACCA qualified with substantial recent UK practice audit experience, within reach of RI eligibility, and committed to applying for it. Genuine general practice breadth alongside the audit work matters here.
If you have been waiting for a firm that actually needs you to become an RI, this is the one to look at.
