Role Purpose
To manage the commercial and contractual aspects of steel engineering projects from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments
- Produce monthly cost/value reconciliation (CVR) reports
- Monitor project costs and identify risks and opportunities
- Prepare and agree variations, change control, and final accounts
- Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contract terms
- Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to control costs
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within construction or engineering (steel preferred)
- Strong commercial and financial awareness
- Knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC)
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Excel and commercial reporting
- Experience working on structural steel or fabrication projects
