Medway Council is recruiting dedicated and qualified Social Workers to join its permanent workforce across statutory services. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive local authority environment, delivering high-quality, person-centred social work practice to improve outcomes for service users and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with statutory duties
- Manage a varied caseload, prioritising risk, safeguarding, and positive outcomes
- Carry out visits, direct work, and interventions with service users and families
- Make clear, proportionate, and evidence-based decisions
- Prepare accurate reports for reviews, meetings, and court (where applicable)
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners
- Maintain timely, high-quality case records using council IT systems
- Ensure all practice aligns with legislation, council policies, and professional standards
Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree / DipSW / CQSW)
- Social Work England registration
- Recent UK social work experience
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation
- Excellent assessment, communication, and recording skills
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Local authority experience
- Experience within Children’s Services or Adult Social Care
- Court work or complex case experience
- Familiarity with systems such as Liquidlogic or Mosaic
