Assistant Head, Inclusion with TCES North West London in Acton, W3 7DD. A permanent leadership post for a qualified social worker, equivalent to a Senior Social Worker role, recruited by Pro Social Partners.

The role:

  • You will be the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead and support the Deputy Headteacher in running the school day to day.
  • You will hold a small but highly complex caseload of families and pupils, reporting to the Deputy Headteacher and Director of Safeguarding and Social Work.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead under Keeping Children Safe in Education, including referrals to the local authority and Channel.
  • Lead the Families and School Together (FAST) provision, covering family liaison, partnerships and direct family work.
  • Coordinate multi agency assessment and care planning for pupils on Early Help, Child in Need and Child Protection plans as well as those who are looked after.
  • Lead behaviour, attendance, inclusion and safeguarding practice across the school with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Line manage Pastoral Care Coordinators and Alumni Peer Mentors, and deliver staff training.

Why it could suit you:

You keep the social work and the safeguarding thinking, with a handful of families rather than a statutory caseload, on a term time plus two weeks contract. TCES is independent specialist provision for pupils with complex needs, with a clinical and inclusion team alongside you, and the post opens a route into education safeguarding leadership.

Pay and package:

  • Salary £58,217 to £61,070 a year (TCES Pay Scale 3.01).
  • Permanent, term time plus two weeks.

What you need:

  • A degree level professional qualification in social work, or equivalent.
  • At least two years recent experience as an effective Designated Safeguarding Lead, ideally in specialist provision.
  • Experience of managing, motivating and developing staff teams.
  • Experience with neurodiverse pupils or pupils with ASC or SEMH needs.
  • Experience of multi disciplinary work across education, health and social care.
  • Desirable: current Social Work England registration and the NPQ for Leading Behaviour and Culture.
