The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 £ per year.

The Match Analyst will be an integral member of the Insights and Analysis department, responsible for coding, analysing and interpreting match footage from Premier League and EFL Championship fixtures. The role will support the delivery of high-quality football and officiating insights to Match Officials and the Pro Ref coaching and technical team, helping to inform preparation, reflection and continuous performance improvement.

Main Duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Support the review of Match Officials' performance through video analysis
  • Code match footage to defined specifications using bespoke analysis software
  • Analyse video and performance data to support coaching, feedback and reflective practice
  • Provide operational support to the Match Analysis Manager, Lead Match Analyst and Performance Analysis Manager
  • Assist in the management of internal communication channels
  • Ensure the timely delivery of match footage through internal platforms
  • Attend training meetings and development events as required
  • Support the delivery of practical training events through the use of the latest analysis technologies
  • Contribute as an integral member of the Insights and Analysis department, supporting the wider objectives of Pro Ref
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, as reasonably required by Pro Ref.

Person Specification: (Experience, qualifications, skills, aptitudes, and personal qualities)

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience of analysing football using performance analysis software (e.g. SportsCode, Angles and/or MatchTracker)
  • A sound understanding of the Laws of the Game
  • In-depth knowledge of Premier League and EFL Championship football
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, demonstrating strong self-management, communication and collaboration
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and other unsocial hours as required by the football calendar
  • Reliable, dependable and consistently punctual

Desirable:

  • Experience working as a Performance or Match Analyst within a professional sporting environment
  • A refereeing qualification or a demonstrable interest in refereeing and officiating
  • Experience of handling confidential and sensitive performance data and information
  • Knowledge of performance analysis software such as SportsCode, Angles and MatchTracker
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in Sports Coaching, Performance Analysis, Sports Science or a related discipline
