A global insurance group will be making a London-based Head of Tax appointment. Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Tax will be a trusted business partner to cross-functional teams, taking a varied, commercial role and ownership for the full breadth of tax matters.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising and presenting to senior finance stakeholders on potential tax issues, providing strategic direction and keeping abreast of legislative/policy developments.
  • Advising transaction and investment management teams, supporting with structuring acquisitions and investment-related activities from a tax perspective.
  • Oversight, review and management of all direct, indirect and international tax/TP matters impacting the group (other than employment tax & global mobility which is handled by HR).
  • Guidance on cashflow forecasts as relating to tax.
  • Management of quarterly and year-end tax reporting.
  • Managing relations with outsourced advisors and tax authorities.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with finance and wider teams, becoming a trusted business partner and recognised subject matter expert.

The successful candidate:

  • ACA/CTA qualification with post-qualified experience operating at/above Senior Manager level.
  • Open to either practice or in-house backgrounds; in-house/secondment experience in the Lloyd’s market, private equity/buy-side M&A advantageous.
  • Broad experience with corporate, international and M&A tax, with indirect or wider tax exposure considered advantageous.
  • Experience managing/overseeing tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Any prior exposure to US taxes helpful.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to present and influence, and challenge at senior levels.
  • The right to work permanently in the UK is required for this post (no sponsorship available).
