Are you a qualified accountant looking for your next step into a leadership role? We are partnering with a well-established and growing accountancy firm in Central London, seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to join their Accounting team.

With over 50 years of experience, this firm is a trusted name in the industry. They are an 8 Partner, 6 Director firm with over 10 employees split between their 2 offices. The London office offers a modern open-plan environment—complete with a foosball table in the kitchen! The firm is part of the international network, providing global reach and networking opportunities, including quarterly international seminars in locations such as Canada and Amsterdam attended by the firms Partners. Their diverse client base includes sectors such as Property Investment, IT Consultants, Healthcare, Barristers, Non-Resident Landlords, and UK subsidiaries of international groups.

The Accounts Assistant Manager Role:

As an Accounts Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing a portfolio of clients and managing the Accounting Solutions team. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Reviewing bookkeeping, VAT, management, and year-end accounts (prepared by junior staff).
  • Supervising and mentoring team members, ensuring their development and progression.
  • Planning, allocating, and monitoring workloads within the team.
  • Providing technical guidance and handling complex client queries.
  • Supporting business development through networking and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Attending industry events to build relationships and grow the firm’s reputation.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and firm policies.

  • Confident reviewing work (rather than preparing) and ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Previous experience supervising, managing, and mentoring a team.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong leadership and ability to drive team performance and engagement.
  • Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and CCH software.
  • London-based or commutable to London.
