We are seeking a Healthcare Application Solution Designer to lead the design of healthcare applications within NHS Trust environments. The role focuses on application architecture, integration and functional solution design, rather than infrastructure or network technical engineering, or local infrastructure. You will provide hands-on solution design, leading collaboration with stakeholders, suppliers, and technical teams to ensure solutions meet clinical, operational, and compliance requirements. This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex designs clearly to both technical teams and senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and design of NHS healthcare applications, ensuring alignment with Trust strategies and compliance standards.
- Assess, design, and implement application upgrade and modernisation strategies.
- Translate business and clinical requirements into scalable, maintainable, and compliant application solutions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors on licensing, functionality, and integration requirements.
- Oversee solution design documentation, presenting to Architecture Review Boards as required.
- Support data transformation, integration, and analytics where relevant to application functionality.
- Provide architectural guidance to resolve complex application issues and ensure solution integrity.
- Work closely with project managers and technical teams to ensure seamless delivery and adoption of applications.
Essential Experience:
- Proven expertise in NHS Trust IT and healthcare application environments using HL7 – e.g. EPR, LIMS, PACS, RIS and other functional user systems.
- Strong solution architecture experience focused on healthcare applications, including upgrade and modernisation projects.
- Hands-on application design experience, including functional, integration, and interface aspects.
- Experience with vendor/supplier management and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex application solutions clearly.
Please do not apply if:
- You are an infrastructure or network technical architect without the strong functional application/integration components.
- Your focus is end user computing and local infrastructure.
- You are a consultant providing IT advice without being hands on authoring solutions.
We need hands-on solution designing skills engaging with key stakeholders and driving out solutions to requirements – often assisting with requirements definition.
