Pro-Pak Foods is a major supplier of delicious ready meals to many of the UK's leading supermarkets and convenience stores. Our chefs work with our customers and have created a menu of more than 200 quality meals.

As our Maintenance Manager, you will lead the Engineering team here at Pro-Pak, reporting into the Head of Engineering on-site. This role will oversee daily management of our on-site Maintenance Engineers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Health and Safety: Champion Health Safety on-site ensuring that a safe working environment exists for all colleagues. Participate in the HS meeting and lead Safety Gemba Walks, ensuring all actions are implemented as necessary. Reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions and near misses, ensuring that all related actions are implemented across site in a timely manner.
  • Functional Team Management: Provide leadership direction to ensure that within the function people are engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their full potential. Coach the team in disciplines such as lean principles and problem-solving. Ensure proactive improvement plans are in place for relevant KPIs/improvement trends. Define the team/department strategy and ensure it is aligned to the business strategy and clearly communicated to all team members.
  • Quality: Participate in necessary on-site audit processes. Compliance to company policies, standard operating procedures and legal regulations.
  • Maintenance: Management and control of contractors for all on-site activity. Ensure accurate documentation of all necessary engineering records and reporting is maintained. Oversee a range of engineering activities including fault diagnostics, breakdown cover, equipment installation and general maintenance of all plant and equipment to ensure optimum efficiency. Liaise with operations for start-up requirements and ensure that PPM takes place as planned and agreed.

Skills Experience Required

  • Engineering-related qualification or relevant experience in an Engineering role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong technical knowledge and an aptitude for both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of BRC standards and customer codes of practice.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Working knowledge and use of CMMS systems.
