Pro currently has an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join the newly formed Pro Legal team. The post holder will undertake a variety of tasks to manage and progress a caseload of litigated claims, with a focus on disease, illness and/or historic abuse matters. The role is open to candidates at varying levels of experience and qualification.
The post holder may be required to travel between UK office locations in London, Glasgow, Gloucester, Horsham and Liverpool when necessary.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are keen to hear from individuals across a wide range of backgrounds, including:
- Solicitors
- Chartered Legal Executives (CILEx)
- Experienced Paralegals
Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience in:
- Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)
- Asbestos-related disease
- Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
- Other industrial disease / illness claims
- Historic abuse claims
Defendant experience is preferred but not essential.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of litigated fast-track and multi-track claims (disease/illness and/or historic abuse)
- Draft key legal documents including:
- Defences
- Directions Questionnaires
- Disclosure Lists
- Witness Statements
- Costs Budgets
- Instructions to Counsel
- Client reports
- Assess liability and quantum
- Analyse documentary and expert evidence, including medical records
- Ensure compliance with court directions and procedural timetables
- Attend court hearings where required
- Maintain accurate case management and management information
- Deliver a high standard of client service at all times
Key Performance Indicators
- Compliance with client SLAs
- Achieve financial and chargeable hour targets
- Accurate completion of MI
Skills and Experience
- Experience handling litigated claims (disease, illness and/or abuse preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of CPR and litigation process
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Good analytical skills, particularly in relation to liability and medical evidence
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
