Pro Insurance currently has an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Paralegal to join the newly formed Pro legal team. Pro currently operates a hybrid working model. The majority of this role will be working at home with travel to the Glasgow, Liverpool or Horsham office on a weekly basis, and other offices as and when required.
Purpose of Role
To provide dedicated legal support to the Managing Director and Legal Directors, managing a caseload of disease-related claims (e.g. noise induced hearing loss, asbestos related conditions) and abuse related claims. The role requires a high level of professionalism and attention to detail, in supporting the progression of cases efficiently and sensitively.
Main Responsibilities
- Independently manage and progress a case load of litigated disease and illness/non-recent abuse claims.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of active claims, including drafting correspondence, preparing court documents, and maintaining case files.
- Liaise with clients, experts, counsel, and third parties under solicitor supervision.
- Monitor key dates and deadlines, ensuring timely compliance with procedural requirements.
- Review and collate medical records, employment history, and other relevant documentation.
- Prepare bundles for court hearings, conferences, and settlement meetings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on case management systems.
- Conduct legal research on relevant case law, procedural rules, and statutory provisions.
- Draft witness statements, instructions to counsel, and summaries of expert evidence.
- Provide the highest level of client care at all times.
Knowledge and skills
- Experience of running disease & illness / abuse claims (preferably from a defendant perspective).
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the CPR and litigation process.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
- Excellent IT skills with experience in the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word).
- Ability to identify problems, complaints and risk management.
- Experience in working on a case management system desirable but full training will be provided.
