The Tax Manager Role
As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, delivering predominantly advisory work alongside review responsibilities. This is a truly advisory-led position, with corporate tax compliance handled by the audit team and personal tax work prepared by junior staff, allowing you to focus on high-value client engagement and technical work. You will work closely with Partners and senior leadership, providing commercial tax advice while developing long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of private clients, owner-managed businesses and corporate clients
- Delivering advisory work across areas such as CGT, IHT, EIS, R&D and structuring
- Reviewing personal and corporate tax returns prepared by junior team members
- Acting as a trusted adviser and key point of contact for clients
- Supporting business development and identifying opportunities within your portfolio
- Mentoring and developing junior staff
- Liaising directly with Partners on complex and strategic matters
About You
You'll be a commercially aware and technically strong tax professional who enjoys working closely with clients and delivering advisory-led solutions. Ideal experience includes:
- CTA qualified or equivalent with strong UK tax experience
- Experience managing client portfolios within practice
- Strong exposure to advisory work across personal and corporate tax
- Ability to provide practical, commercially focused advice
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff
