An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Accountant / experienced Accounts Senior to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice, working as an Assistant Manager across a varied portfolio of clients.

The role would suit an ACA, CA or ACCA qualified accountant with strong experience gained within an accountancy practice, particularly someone who enjoys working with owner-managed businesses (OMBs) and wants to take the next step in their career.

What you will be doing as an Assistant Manager - Accounts

  • Preparing statutory accounts for a range of companies, from small businesses through to medium and larger organisations
  • Preparing accounts under FRS 102, including group accounts and consolidations
  • Managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed deadlines
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key client contacts
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and providing an efficient, proactive service
  • Identifying issues and working with Partners and Directors to agree appropriate solutions
  • Keeping Partners and Directors updated on the progress of assignments
  • Supporting and developing junior members of the team, helping them strengthen their technical accounting skills
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure a joined-up approach to client affairs
  • Monitoring budgets and proactively managing costs across individual assignments
  • Organising your own workload and supporting the wider team to ensure deadlines are met

What you will need to succeed as an Assistant Manager - Accounts

  • ACA, CA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice or professional services environment
  • Strong experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses
  • Good knowledge of FRS 102
  • Experience working with a varied portfolio of clients
  • Previous client-facing experience and the confidence to build strong professional relationships
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines effectively
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
  • Commercial awareness and experience monitoring costs against budgets
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on delivering a high-quality client service
  • aThe ability and willingness to support and develop more junior members of the team
