Payroll Manager A well-established and growing accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and develop its payroll function. This is a senior opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who is looking for more than simply managing the day-to-day operation. The successful candidate will take responsibility for an established payroll service, leading a team of four and playing a key role in developing and growing the service line further. With around 300 payroll clients, there is a strong existing platform to build upon. What you will be doing as a Payroll Manager Leading, managing and developing a team of four payroll professionals Overseeing the delivery of payroll services across a diverse portfolio of approximately 300 clients Reviewing and overseeing payroll processes and ensuring deadlines are consistently met Acting as a senior point of contact for clients, dealing with queries and providing payroll guidance where required Supporting and developing the existing team, including performance management, coaching and mentoring Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and efficiencies across the payroll function Building strong relationships with existing clients and helping to develop the service further Identifying opportunities to grow the payroll client base and increase fee income Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensuring the team operates in line with current requirements What you will need to succeed as a Payroll Manager Significant experience within payroll, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment Previous experience managing and developing a payroll team Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes Experience managing a sizeable portfolio of payroll clients Relevant payroll qualifications, with CIPP or equivalent qualifications highly desirable A commercial mindset and an interest in developing and growing a payroll service Competitive salary based on experience Hybrid working Ongoing training and professional development Clear opportunities for further career progression This is a great opportunity for an experienced Audit Senior or Assistant Manager who is ready to take on more responsibility and develop their career within a growing practice.
