I'm working with a growing accountancy firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Administrator to support a varied portfolio of clients. This is a strong opportunity for someone with solid UK payroll experience from practice who enjoys taking ownership of client payrolls, managing deadlines and working directly with clients. The role is attached to the firm's London office, with a flexible approach to working patterns. Initially, there would likely be some office time to get embedded with the team and clients, but once settled, the role can become very remote-friendly, with many weeks potentially requiring only limited office attendance.
The Role
- Process end-to-end monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.
- Manage starters, leavers and employment detail changes.
- Prepare and submit RTI returns, including FPS and EPS.
- Deal with HMRC payroll correspondence.
- Process statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SAP.
- Support pension auto-enrolment administration.
- Assist with payroll queries from clients.
- Ensure payrolls are accurate, confidential and delivered to deadline.
- Use Sage payroll software.
What They're Looking For
- At least 4 years' hands-on UK payroll experience.
- Payroll experience gained within an accountancy practice.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI and HMRC requirements.
- Experience using Sage payroll software.
- Good understanding of statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment.
- Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines across a client portfolio.
Why Apply?
- This is a great opportunity to join a professional and flexible accountancy firm in a hands-on payroll role with genuine client contact and ownership.
- £35,000-£38,000 + benefits.
- Highly flexible working once settled.
- London office base.
- Varied client payroll portfolio.
- Full-time, fixed term to permanent role.
- ASAP start available.
- Strong autonomy and client contact.
