We are recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant or Financial Controller to join an international business based in Chatham.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and working closely with senior finance leaders.

The role Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will oversee the group’s day-to-day accounting activities, manage an international finance team and ensure all financial information is accurate, reliable and delivered on time.

You will also play a key part in improving internal controls, streamlining finance processes and leading important projects such as ERP implementation.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets and tax-related activities.
  • Manage and support an international accounting team across different locations and time zones.
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Maintain strong accounting controls, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and group accounting standards.
  • Support the Finance Manager with financial statements and wider corporate finance matters.
  • Lead finance projects, including ERP setup and implementation.
  • Improve reporting, productivity and efficiency across the finance function.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and profitability analysis.
  • What we are looking for
  • Five to eight years of relevant accounting or financial control experience.
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related subject.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, management accounting, consolidation and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing or supervising a finance team.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and modelling skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, complex formulas and Power Query.
  • Experience using ERP and finance systems.
  • ACCA qualification is highly preferred.
  • Big Four experience would be a strong advantage.

About you You will be confident, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for both daily accounting operations and wider finance projects.

You should be someone who can spot areas for improvement, communicate clearly and work well with colleagues at all levels.
