If you've built a good grounding in accounts but don't want to become pigeonholed into doing the same thing every day, this could be a very good next move.
A growing accountancy practice near Leighton Buzzard is looking for an Accounts & Tax Semi-Senior to join its general practice team.
They're deliberately looking for somebody with broader experience. You'll work across accounts preparation, corporation tax and other areas of compliance while gradually taking more ownership of clients as you develop.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies
- Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships
- Corporation tax computations and CT600s
- Supporting personal tax work where required
- Preparing working papers and lead schedules
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
- Managing deadlines across your portfolio
- Supporting Seniors and Managers on more complex assignments
- Developing towards greater responsibility for clients and reviewing work
Who they're looking for
You don't need to be qualified or the finished article. What matters is that you've already gained a solid grounding within a UK accountancy practice and are ready to build on it.
Ideally, you'll have
- Around 18 months+ experience within an accountancy practice
- Hands-on accounts preparation experience
- Exposure to corporation tax
- Experience working with owner-managed businesses
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- A genuine interest in developing broader general practice experience
You could be studying towards ACA or ACCA, be AAT qualified, or simply have developed your experience through working in practice.

- Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
